Comparative election statistics provided by the ASNC Rules & Elections Committee from posted results at: www.ASNC.us

In its sixth and final annual election before the L.A. City Clerk assumes control of all neighborhood council elections in 2010, the ASNC saw its largest ever voter turnout since certification by the City in 2002.

The 2008 vote count represents a nearly 30 percent increase in balloting over the average for the past four years (for comparable staggered-year, partial board elections in 2004 - 2007), and a 15 percent increase over 2007, the last such election held.  The previous record turnout was the ASNC first election, in 2003, when all 19 board members were voted on for the first time.  (In 2010, all 19 board seats will again be up for election at one time).

This year's highest-ever balloting was, in part, elevated by a 23 percent increase in registered stakeholders in Mount Washington -- the ASNC's largest community -- during 2008.  Mount Washington also accounted for the more than half of all ballots cast in the 2008 election.

When the ASNC board is officially seated at its first 2009 meeting next January, more than one-third of the representatives will be first-time candidates.

Thanks to all our stakeholders who voted in this Election, the sixth successful election in ASNC history.  And thanks to all our Election volunteers for making a difference.
